ACT阅读考试时间为35分钟，包括4篇文章，每篇文章长度为600-900个单词，每篇文章后面有10道题。虽然ACT阅读考试的时间很紧张，但是ACT阅读考试的文章类型是固定不变的，有4种文章类型：小说、社会科学、人文科学、自然科学，而且考试过程中这4种文章类型的顺序也是固定不变的。下面来看下ACT 阅读之例子题解题技巧。
其中，小说来自英美作家作品的节选。社会科学取材于人类学、考古学、传记、经济、教育、地理、历史、政治、心理学等。人文类文章多涉及建筑学、艺术、舞蹈、电影、文学评论、传记、音乐、随笔、哲学、电视等。自然科学类一般包括天文学、生物学、化学、地质学、医学、物理学等方面的内容。
就考察对象而言，常见以下三类， 包括直接事实题、例子题、以及推断题。
本文将在这里讨论一下例子题的解题技巧。例子题是指就文章中提到的例子进行提问。一般来说，文章中例子的作用是用来支持作者的观点或者用来解释、说明比较抽象的观点的。答案信息一般在例子前面或例子后面表示结论的句子中。
例子题有明显的提问方式，如
1. The author uses the description of …; to make the point that…
2. The author uses the remark …; primarily as an example of:
一般来说，如果段落中含有例子，其段落结构大致可以分为以下两种:1) top sentence → examples → conclusion，2) examples → conclusion。 例子题所对应的段落中一般会出现for example, such as, for instance，therefore等表示举例说明作用的短语。
做例子题的时候要注意三点：第一，定位例子后，注意找出例子前面或后面的总结性或概括性的陈述。(例子前面概括性的陈述一般是主题句，例子后面总结性的陈述一般是总结句);第二，例子本身要略读或跳读;第三，有时要结合文章作者态度做题。
